Day 31 31/01/10 Fires and floods
Trying to reduce the piles of things brought home from work and get sorted for classes today, but 37c heat and bushfires about 10k from here made it a bit hard to focus. After the change arrived though we had a wonderful thunderstorm and I will sleep tonight in the cool trying to stay calm ready for first day of classes. Lots of firsts make life pretty full on and this one is the end of the month not yesterday - who is a bit distracted?
Day 30 30/01/10 Bluemoon and plant sale
A recovery day after a hectic week included a plant sale - of course- and then a beautiful moon that was very hard to photograph with an iphone as we came home from going to a movie. First month done !!!

Day 29 29/01/10 Gowns and books
One of the more interesting traditions of the new school is the wearing of academic robes on various occasions during the year. We all went very Hogwarts today and I finally got to wear my gown for the first time. Bookclub in the evening and one photo of a series of a cat impression using my gorillacam ipod app which does time lapse -this is Bernie- nuf said
Day 28 28/01/10 Early morning magic
My early start makes me be awake at a time when magic is often happening outside. Clouds gently descend over our trees in the night and the first rays of the sun give them a mystical quality. Grabbed these shots early this morning and ten minutes later it wasn't the same. Doing this project is certainly sharpening my eye!

After another day of meetings and information overload for the new teachers , it was a delight to come home to a beautiful evening and my garden looking lush in the late afternoon light.

Day 24 24/01/10 More gorillacam
Ok so this blog may have too many cat and garden pikkies but that is how it goes around here and I had Iphoto hassles today - apparently there is a bug with Iphoto if you upload pics you have received by email on your Iphone up to Iphoto. Resident Handy and Techy person spend many frustrating hours trying to fix said problem so photo subject range is a bit reduced but he did fix it for me. He is such a wonderful Handy chap!
Day 23 23/01/10 A cat point of view
Fiddling around with the options for the iphone on Gorillacam - time lapse, 3 second shoot and using a bubble level and rule of thirds grid. Lotsa fun and Cleo sat still.

Day 22 22/01/10 The beginning
A new desk, a new job, a new view on the world and lots of new ways of doing things. Two days of orientation then three days of meetings and getting ready. Looks strangely like some of the shots from the start of last year...

Day 21 21/01/10 new day new job
Well after all the years of me being the photographer when members of my family made big new steps and started out doing something amazing, today was my turn. Little Ms Stick-in-the-mud has finally picked herself up and done something different. After 29 years of working at the same school in the state system, today I headed off to my new job at a really wonderful private school. Lots of nerves and excitement and my darling resident Handy Person got to do the photography thing for a change. Seems to be the thing for the year.

Day 20 20/01/10 last day of holidays
New job begins tomorrow so I bottled plums, cleaned cupboards, vacuumed, gardened and generally tried to keep busy and not freak out about what is happening. Stay calm ,,,,,,,,,, then I helped Pam with her new iphone - she's a little techy gal that Pammie. Wonder what I will photograph tomorrow?

Day 19 19/01/10 Plummy but sad
Second last day of holidays- lots of checking out op shops and then getting ready to bottle some plums. Congratulations to my mate Pam who has finished a whole year of 365 postings and has just bought an iphone - go Pammie
Day 18 18/01/10 Lotsa rain
Ok a week ago we were sweltering under 43C degree heat and now there are snow flurries up on the alps and I am finding extra blankets at night. The garden looks great though and we are making plans with a stonemason to have lots of new stonework around the block. Yay!

Day 17 17/01/10 Makin' compost and connections
A busy weekend of lovely conversations and friends and food. Tanya, Peter and Maxim came to collect compost and, after a morning of playing tourists with Gary and Eleanor, we spent the afternoon chatting and then this evening I went past the beautiful Russian Orthodox church where Tanya's husband Peter is a priest. It looked like a fairytale castle lit up at night in the middle of Brunswick. Just beautiful.
Day 16 16/01/10
You would never guess where I went again today- I am going to go on commision there soon - Cloudehill with another pair of visitors who are garden lovers. They went mad with the camera too and I am posting some pics from a guest photographer Mr GB who showed me how to use the macro facility on my camera and where the rule of thirds grid is. Here are his lovely shots - enjoy!
