Too hot to cook so we went to the pub for dinner and then when we came out there was a beautful celebration outside the Chinese restaurant for Chinese new Year! A group of drago dancers and a band were performing- what a delight for Olinda which is usually a very quiet little place except for the tourists on the weekends

A heatwave takes its toll after days over 43C and power cuts and no aircon at work I am a bit frazzled and so are the cats!

Day 28 28th Jan 2009

First day back 43C day meetings no aircon and death by powerpoint made for a long first day back. Once the builders have finished I will be moving up to the new year 8 centre so here is my desk one last time before I start packing it up. End of an era!

Day 27 27th Jan 2009

As my long holiday draws to a close, the heatwaves begin. Tonight was a lovely evening from my deck but the next few days are all forecast to be over 40c. This is always how it is but the drought makes it scarier- bushfire season is here !The second photo is my newly painted ensuite -see previous photo for the old colour. I did two coats in the heat yesterday, but the colour was still showing through so I will have to do another coat on the weekend. The difference is amazing - so bright!!

After a lovely evening at the pics today has been hard work. We collected all these pavers - the photo only shows half the pile which we bought on ebay and they are for the greehouse area and had to move them twice- they are not light. I am also painting the ensuite for the main bedroom. Such a lot of glamourous jobs these holidays!!

After watching Revolutionary Road at the movies we had a lovely dinner watching the sun set at Earthly pleasures in Belgrave and I played with my lovely new camera which doesn't do dud shots all the time like my sony finepics did.
